Non-Legal Celebrant That You Need

If you and your partner want to celebrate love and show public affections without getting legally married in Sydney, Newcastle, Central Coast, Port Stephens, Hunter Valley and surrounding areas, then I can help you create a commitment ceremony that looks and feels like a wedding.  I can be the most fun, energetic and vibrant non-legal wedding celebrant you will ever find. Hire me to create you a wonderful commitment ceremony that you need today.

A commitment ceremony is perfect for couples looking to declare love and commitment to each other without actually getting married, or in another word, it’s very much like a wedding, but it’s not legally binding. Commitment ceremonies take a variety of forms.  You and your partner can declare your love publicly or privately, say ‘I do’, exchange rings, gifts or vows, and sign a commemorative commitment certificate. However, the union will not be registered or legally recognised.

As a celebrant, I can assist you with creating a beautiful and memorable non-legal wedding. I have a basic format for a ceremony, but I invite you and your partner to personalise it and make it unique. You can choose your own special music and readings (I have quite a selection of readings, poetry, music and vows to inspire you.) You can plan time to share stories or memories and you can invite family members to take part.

The Procedure:

  • Planning a commitment ceremony requires just one meeting. I would like to hear your history as a couple and milestone events (e.g., where you met and lived, when your children were born). I’d like to know how you would like the ceremony to unfold. After our meeting, I’ll draw up a script for the ceremony that respects what we discussed and we can follow up by exchanging call, emails or facetime.
  • During the ceremony I will mention the circumstances for opting for a commitment ceremony rather than a wedding. For example, maybe your wedding has already taken place or a wedding will not be occurring. We can work together to develop the appropriate wording.

If you and your partner wish to celebrate your union but feel that a legal wedding is not your preferred format, give serious thought to a commitment ceremony.

Commitment Without Getting Married

There are numerous reasons for couples to opt for a commitment ceremony:

  • You and your partner may have been married previously and don’t want to legally marry, but you want to demonstrate your commitment to each other.
  • Perhaps you were legally married overseas to obtain a visa, but now you want to celebrate with family and friends.
  • You had a wedding ceremony in another location, and now you want to re-enact the ceremony for people who were unable to attend your wedding.
  • One person may not be legally free to marry, for example they may be missing a certain document required for a legal marriage, but the couple wants to go ahead with the planned celebration.
  • Some couples may not believe in the institution of marriage.

A Non-legal wedding is an occasion to focus on your love story and your commitment to accompany each other on the rest of your life journey. It can also be an opportunity to celebrate the joining of not only you and your partner, but also your two families.

A commitment ceremony should reflect who you are as a couple. It can take place wherever you are comfortable: on a boat in Newcastle Coastal areas, the vineyards of the Hunter Valley, in your home, at your favourite beach, a beautiful garden or park, or a reception venue in the Central Coast.
